- Baby's growth and development
- Signs and stages of labour
- Understanding and managing pain
- Pain relief options
- Obstetric variations, e.g. induction of labour, caesarian sections
- Postnatal issues
- Breastfeeding - benefits and management
- Infant feeding and care of the newborn
- Early days at home
- At the end of the course a social get together is arranged for networking and a show and tell!

Natural Birth Classes
Course outline
The session is based upon the premise that:
- Birth is a normal event for the great majority of women
- Becoming a parent is a life changing event for mother and partner
- Breastfeeding is best for babies
This course will include information and discussion on:-
- Discovering your body's own coping resources
- Positions used during labour and birthing
- Strong focus on keeping labour and birth normal
- Using techniques in order to avoid reliance on drug therapy and medical intervention
- Situations where pregnancy, labour and birth do not remain straightforward and medical assistance is neccessary
- Life with a new baby
- We encourage interaction, discussion and group activities
- A tour of Birthcare is included in the 12 hour class time
