Postnatal Care

Transferring to Birthcare after birthing at another hospital

If you are unable to birth at Birthcare, you are still welcome to transfer after birth for your postnatal stay, even if you have had a caesarean section.. You are able to stay for up to 3 nights.

Generally if you have had a normal birth, we would expect you to transfer as soon as possible after birth but within 24 hours. If you have had a caesarean section, we would expect you to transfer within 48 hours. Read our transfer criteria.

Your Lead Maternity Carer will visit you while you are at Birthcare, however, if they are busy and not able to do so, our midwives will take good care of you and keep in touch with your LMC. We have 24 hour midwifery care.

The standard of midwifery care at Birthcare is very high. The midwives like to spend with you to assist you to become confident to go home with your baby.

We have lactation consultants on staff as well as a lactation clinic and are able to help you get breastfeeding established.

Your meals are catered for and partner meals can be purchased.

Medical Insurance

Check your medical insurance as your policy may contribute towards a private room in Birthcare. If this is the case, you will need to pay upfront and claim back from your insurance company.
