Birthcare provides excellent 24 hour care and support for new mums, dads and their babies. We aim to make your birth experience the best that it can be.
We offer flexible choices so you decide what suits you best.
If you birth at Birthcare you'll be given a private room wherever possible. If you choose to have your baby at another hospital, you can still transfer to Birthcare for your postnatal stay.


Our birthing services are free to New Zealand residents and women eligible for free maternity care in New Zealand.

FREE WIFI is available for up to 500MB a day per user. If you have used this allocation and need more, you can ask for a voucher from our reception.

No Charge (Up to 3 nights)
Standard rooms have two single beds, an ensuite bathroom and a telephone at each bedside to contact your midwife.
Rooms are twin share so you may be sharing with another mother. We have 22 shared rooms.

 

 

 

PARTNERS STAYING OVERNIGHT

 

Fold down beds are available on request for partners who wish to stay over in the Private Rooms.

 

If you birth at Birthcare and have been given a Private Room the charge for this is $50 per night.

 

If you are paying for a private or premium room your partner can stay free of charge.

We have a birthing suite consisting of four birthing rooms, three of which include specially designed birthing pools for labour and birth.

Birthcare has our own resident chef, providing tasty, nutritious meals. We can also cater for those with special dietary requirements.

For your convenience we have snack vending and coffee machines, and two kitchenettes where you are welcome to help yourself to hot drinks.

Birthcare provides medical and general baby supplies (pain relief, disposable nappies, sanitary pads) all of which are included as part of our service.

If you are planning on using cloth nappies, bring two with you for a folding demonstration.

 

Please ensure you have some woollen items, especially if you are transferring from Auckland Hospital and for when you are discharged home.

 

Please note: Babies must always travel in a car seat. Please familiarise yourself with how to safely use your car seat as per manufacturers instruction before baby is born


Infant Feeding

Birthcare provides everything that is required for breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding is supported and encouraged.

If you are planning to artificially feed, please bring with you the formula, bottles and teats you will be using at home.

N.B. Infant formula is available if required for medical reasons only

We encourage you to come on one of our tours, no appointment is necessary.

 

Tours run on the following days:
Thursdays 2.30pm
Saturdays 2.00pm, 2.30pm, 3.00pm

Please note that we do not have tours on public holidays.


Please use the pay and display parking or other parking on the street. Our underground parking is reserved for in-patients and visitors

phone us first to ensure that it is available for viewing (these rooms will only
be viewed if vacant).

SCHEDULE OF CHARGES

 

Birthing at Birthcare is free to New Zealand residents and women eligible for free maternity care in New Zealand. Even if you are a New Zealand Citizen, we may ask for proof of eligibility. Please do not be offended as this is standard practice for women of any background.

You may be asked to provide copies of either:

  • Your passport (including all pages that have a new zealand immigration stamp or sticker plus the photo page)
  • Your New Zealand birth certificate (and marriage certificate if your name has changed)
  • Your New Zealand citizenship certificate


Standard rooms are free for up to 3 nights. Private rooms are partly funded for up to 3 nights.
If you have medical insurance it pays to check your policy, as it may contribute towards the cost of a private room at Birthcare.

If you are not a permanent resident of New Zealand the following charges apply. A deposit of 50% is required at time of registration.

BIRTHCARE PAYMENT TERMS


All major credit cards accepted except for Diners Card. We do not accept cheque payments.
All amounts outstanding are to be settled on check out.
Patients are expected to check out by 11.00am on the appropriate day.
Late discharges may attract a discharge fee of 50% of the daily rate.
All prices are inclusive of GST effective from 30th October, 2017
Prices may be revised from time to time at the sole discretion of Birthcare Auckland Limited.

Birthcare is Central Auckland's Primary Maternity  facility with 4 birthing rooms and 45 postnatal beds. This is a pleasant environment in which professionals can provide the very best care for women and their babies. In 2017 we will be offering low-risk women from ADHB's community team the possibility of birthing at Birthcare. This is an exciting project as our vision is to become a midwifery led unit strongly advocating for physiological birth.


Birthcare Parenll employs Midwives with experience in all aspects of maternity. The Birthcare philosophy has a strong focus on natural birth and successful breastfeeding. We also provide low level secondary postnatal care to mothers and their babies.

 

We are seeking midwives who are experienced in all aspects of the midwifery scope of practice to join our team.

 

You must be registered with the Midwifery Council of NZ, hold a current practicing certificate and enjoy providing primary maternity care.

 

The position offers interesting, challenging and professionally rewarding practice in a very supportive team environment. There is flexibility with rostered shifts. Birthcare will support you with ongoing professional education.

 

We are looking for midwives interested in permanent full and part time positions.

Birthcare Auckland is a Primary Maternity Unit situated in Parnell, Auckland. Our vision is to provide the very best start in life for all mothers, babies and their family/whanau. We have very good relationships with the public and private hospitals throughout the country.

 

Skills/Experience:

  • Healthcare assistant level 4 qualification with minimum of 12 months NZ expreience as a healthcare assistant in a maternity hospital
  • Midwifery student and has completed at least 2 clinical placements
  • Availability to work a minimum of 3 days a week

About the role:

You will work in a primary maternity setting. from (9.00am - 2.00pm) this may vary and is flexible (Monday - Saturday)

You must be a NZ citizen or Permanent Resident

Proficiency in reading, speaking and writing English
